After almost 20 years sitting in the tractor shed and shop, Dad and I are finally undertaking the frame-up restoration of our 1954 5 window 1/2 ton. We have spent several months cleaning the shop, making space, reading up on other's experience in this effort and devising a rough plan of attack. Have read several books, including Deve's latest and are looking forward to this adventure!
Our goal is a restoration that is as close to original as possible, while upgrading where safety/comfort is concerned - 12V upgrade, brakes upgrade, electric wipers, etc. This truck appears virtually all original with ~37K miles and all matching numbers (engine/transmission) based on original delivery inspection documents from 1954.
Current intent is to perform all of the work ourselves, save for body work and painting and engine machining.
We will keep this forum updated and periodically post pictures and certainly appreciate any advice and responses to questions along the way from forum members.
