Differential pinion seal install

Good morning. I need advice on how to install a pinion seal on my '55 1st series truck. I've removed the yoke. Now I see a large washer thing almost the diameter of the face of the diff. I tried to remove it but seems to be stuck. I don't want to damage something getting it out. I do see the rubber and spring around the pinion. Does the seal need to be installed from the inside? Any advise is appreciated in advance. Thanks, John T.

Thanks anyway. I finally found what I needed to know on youtube! It's an install on a '57 car. sort of the same.
