  • PCV question

I have studied the articles about PCV including:
    http://chev235guy.blogspot.com/search/label/235%20PCV
    http://devestechnet.com/Home/PCVInstall
I had been reluctant to try the latter as I wanted the PCV up high so as not to clog it up. Now I want to avoid using the road draft tube. They are impossible to clean without boiling them out and many shops no longer do this.

I see the Standard Motor Products V-237 PCV has two openings. The lower one hooks up to the intake manifold. I may have missed it in the article, but where does the upper hose opening fit to?

From a physics perspective, it doesn't matter where in the line the valve goes, it will suck just as much oil. That is why when we engineered this system we use 3/8" line. The volume is so great there is no way oil can be pulled by the 1 psi or so of pull from the vacuum the V-237 is designed for. Very well balanced system. All 216/235/261 engines should have it to keep the sludge out of the oil as much as possible. The idea is to seal the engine as much as you can so the only place for gasses to escape is through the valve/intake system. Anyway.. to answer your question, the small opening is capped off. The V-237 comes with the cap for that purpose. Hope this helps!

I think I will do it. This engine has not been started in years. The last time it was throwing oil out the back somewhere such that there was no oil pressure. I should probably check in the back to see what is wrong. But for now I have my freeze plug and I will look around for my step drill

Another advantage to getting a stock valve cover from a later 216 is, the last place the oil pump oils the engine is the rockers. This means if there is any problems it is usually at the top end. Pouring oil from the valve cover makes MUCH more sense than putting it in the bottom end.

The paypal route allows you to use your debit card. Once you select your choice on my website, it takes you to theirs so you can pay however you want. Please email me with the size of the vacuum port on the intake. There were three stock choices which are pictured on the Ordering page. Remember the regular kit is 50 inches of soft hose to connect the PCV to the intake. Works great!

Debit, Credit, Paypal is all good through the Paypal system. Once you get to Paypal's payment methods, it will allow it.

Not sure why. Lots of people use it for that. Im sorry you are having problems. You can always do it the hard way and send a money order to my PO Box. I will die before I pay the ridiculous monthly fee for a business to take credit cards.
