  • Antifreeze ph tester

My 1954 235 runs 50/50 traditional green antifreeze. I can measure the effectiveness with a floating ball tester, but how can I tell whether it is turning acid? I hate to simply replace it every three years.

You can get coolant test strips to test the PH of the coolant. Amazon sells them for around $10 for 50. Acceptable PH is 8-10 for coolant. Anything below 7.0 is considered too acidic and should be thoroughly flushed and refilled with fresh coolant.
